WordPress.com is a company with dedicated support staff. WordPress.com provides hosting and a platform in which to build your site, using the WordPress software. WordPress.com is owned and operated by Automattic, Inc. 

 “WordPress” itself is open-source software and is supported by volunteers.  WordPress.org does not provide hosting and it’s not even a platform, as it’s often referred to. According to domain usage WordPress is used in more than 178 countries as of 2023. WordPress is available in more than 60 different languages.  As of 20023 worldwide there’s a  reported 851.4 million WordPress websites,   WordPress websites rule 43.2% of the internet , with  97% of bloggers using WordPress. There are approximately 9 million WordPress sites in the United States. With the popularity of WordPress unabating we can safely say that it remains a popular and reliable choice for building a website.

WordPress Making Millionaires 

Muhammad Haris a developer and his teammate were reported to have sold over $1,000,000 (1 million in US dollars) worth of items on Envato a.k.a Themeforest, a marketplace for WordPress themes. It was reported Harris  made this money through a WordPress theme called Avada.   

The Australian-based Envato runs the ThemeForest and CodeCanyon market places as well as the Tuts+ tutorial and course platform. Their properties represent the second most popular places for WordPress themes and plugins. Yoast SEO were reported to have hit $18.9 revenue and 200K customers in 2023. Yoast SEO  one of the most popular WordPress SEO plugins reports 12M+ active users.
